Description

Downtown Partnership of Baltimore (DPOB) is looking for a Director of Hospitality & Safety for their corporate headquarters on South Charles Street. This position will be responsible for the effective operation of the Downtown Baltimore Guides (DBG) and all security assets through the implementation and enforcement of the department’s standard operations and procedures. The Director will ensure effective communication with supervisors and front line personnel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leading, guiding, directing, and evaluating the work of other employees, such as supervisors and Downtown Baltimore Guides (DBG), and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Work with supervisors to create & distribute DBG & Security schedules and agendas for Roll Call.
  • Monitor and track recordkeeping of contracted security assets.
  • Responsible for ensuring schedules are entered into ADP, attendance records, and payroll are completed.
  • Lead in the hiring of staff by reviewing resumes, interviewing, and conducting new hire orientation.
  • Review and approve all disciplinary actions and terminations recommended by supervisors.
  • Responsible for ordering and inventory management of all supplies and materials needed for the department.
  • Assist human resources and leadership with the development and implementation of employee rewards programs such as Employee Appreciation, holiday events, etc.
  • Complete all necessary reports regarding the department’s progress towards reaching goals & objectives.
  • Ensure team compliance with data collection into all DPOB approved platforms such as Salesforce, MapDash, and SharePoint.
  • Assist leadership with the investigation and resolution of constituent complaints.
  • Submit all expenditures with supporting documentation to immediate supervisor for review and approval
  • Represent the department and the Downtown Partnership in a professional manner at meetings and special events.
  • Work collaboratively with the operation’s Project Manager and other colleges on cross-functional tasks.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate or necessary to support the organization's needs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree, preference for hospitality services, criminal justice, or similar field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Hospitality Services and/or Criminal Justice.
  • Baltimore City metropolitan area resident is preferred.
Skills and Experience:
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, Power Bi and/or PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maryland Driver’s License w/Clean Driving record of 2 points or less

Position Type/Expected Work Hours

  • This is a full-time exempt position which may require occasional evening and weekend work as the job duties demand
